We spent 2 days and one night on the Ginger Junk. It was much better than expected. The rooms are geat but we spent most of our time on the deck, eating in the dining room or visiting caves, fishing villages and swimming off the boat. We went in July and it was very hot and humid so it was great on the deck. The bedrooms are airconditioned and about 4 star. You could not get better on a junk. There were 13 passengers and 14 crew to look after you. Nothing is any trouble for them. They try to treat you with the ultimate respect and service.
I think it was great value. We booked the tour at halongluxurytour. It was good but If I did it again I would try and stay at Halong bay the night before the cruise. We were a little tired after a four hour trip in the car.
By the way we pre booked our whole trip for two weeks through asia tour advisor. All hotels, private tours, transfers and it is a little more than others but nothing went wrong it was perfect. They even rang me half way through the trip to make sure everthing was ok.
Finally you will love your time on the Ginger Junk. The maximum number of passengers is 20 and the windows in you bedroom give you a private uninterrupted view over the water.
